SPI’s Borodino Game : Index

Note:  This is not the complete game; you’ll still need an original set from SPI for the rules and such.  This is a redesigned game map in a larger size, with larger counters to match:  ¾−inch counters, rather than the original ½−inch ones, and a set of charts.

The larger redesigned board has numbered hexes, which SPI’s original did not.

Note that there are two counters for the Russian 27th Infantry Division:  a 5−4 for the 5 Sep and Grand Battle scenarios, and a 3−4 for the 6 Sep and 7 Sep scenarios.

Also note that there are two French cavalry division counters marked “5 Hvy”:  one in the “IC Res” cavalry corps, and one in the “IIIC Res” corps.  This is not an error.  I researched this as well as I could, and found historical references to the 5th Heavy Div in both corps, and none to a 3rd Heavy Div, as I would have expected.  Moreover, the original SPI counter set has two counters marked “5Hvy” to the right of the cavalry symbol, with “1” and “3” to the left, so this is definitely what is intended.  SPI, however, appears to have exchanged the two counters in their setup illustrations.

There are two sets of counters:

  1. Single-sided, with the setup location for each scenario printed on the front of the counter
  2. Double-sided, with the setup locations on the back.
