Guide to Assembly of the “Stelkomerco” Game

Your Printer

Several of the game parts will look very nice if you can print them on a color printer.  If you are using Internet Explorer, you will want to go to Tools: Internet Options: Advanced, and enable print background colors and images.  For printing the board, this is necessary in order to get the hexsides; for printing the money in color, this is necessary to keep the colors from being changed.

The Board

Print the four parts of the board on card stock, if possible.  I’ve printed mine on a color printer, and it looks very nice.  If you have a black-only printer, you may want to set the black/white option, if that looks better.  Set your printer to the minimum size margins.

Trim the two unbordered edges of each quarter and connect them with tape on the back. I’ve mounted mine on heavy cardboard to make a sturdy board.

The Cards

There are two types of cards used in the game: six sheets of movement cards, and eight sheets of contract cards. These can be printed on card stock and cut along the lines between them. There is also a backside for each type of cards. If you adjust your printer margins right, these will fit perfectly on the backs of the printed sheets of cards. The backs have no lines; use the lines on the front for cutting them apart.

The cards were designed so that, ideally, they can be printed on Avery® microperforated business card stock (part number 5371, available at business supply stores in the US). If you use the business card stock, be sure to turn off the borders on the fronts of the cards.

The Money

The money can be printed ten bills at a time, either all one denomination on colored paper, as in the picture above, or one of each denomination in color, if you have a color printer.  Other designs are available from a separate section of my website.

The Playing Pieces and Cargo Markers

Print on card stock (possibly a lightly colored stock of a different color from that of the board), with minimum margins.  Cut the playing pieces apart:  each should consist of four boxes connected vertically.  Cut along the dotted lines in the top and bottom boxes, fold on the lines between, and connect the two slits together inside the dome created by the two middle boxes.

Just cut the cargo markers apart.  You might want to glue these to thicker cardboard first to make them sturdier.

There are two sets, one in color, and one in black.

Alternatively, you can use colored chips, two for each player.  One to mark the player’s position on the board, and one for a cargeo marker.

The Rules

Set the margins to something reasonable.  I use a half-inch (13mm) for top, right, and bottom, and an inch (25mm) for the left to make room for staples or punched holes for putting into a notebook.
